Real Cruise Control for N1K?

I have the bar end throttle miser cruise control. This does a good job of taking fatigue off the throttle hand. But, there is no way to hold a constant speed. My bike swings from plus or minus 5 mph from a desired set point. Someone started a thread on a real eletronic cruise control for the N1K but never posted any follow up? Short of cutting numerous wires, is there any after martket application for the N1K?

Several years ago when I was on the ST1100, someone found that Autozone was dropping these from their inventory and closing them out at dirt cheap prices. I called every Autozone within an hour of me and got several from $15-25 each. I sold a few of them on ebay and made my money back and a nice little profit. I installed one on the ST1100 and it was rock solid, fantastic. I took it off the bike when I sold it and still have it, as well as one new in the box.

There's not a lot of room on the N1k to put the control unit, maybe up under the LH front fairing or down under the tail by the shock? Just thinking off the top of my head. It's super easy to make a vacuum canister from PVC pipe and ends, that's what we all did. They work fantastic though.

Amazon.com: Audiovox CCS100 Universal Vacuum Cruise Control: Automotive

Here's a link with How-To install.

I can understand the rostra workings but I am confused on what the vacuume is for and how it applies?

The vacuum is used to pull the throttle open. A small air valve modulates the flow of vacuum to pull the throttle open. There is no electric motor to pull the throttle.

Does it generate it's own vacuume? Was this appilcation for the older bikes with vacuume operated slides?

I've got Rostra already installed and I will tell you it performs very well. It should install on N1K just as well as the Concours. Just make sure to pay attention to dipswitch settings and where you tie into the brake feed for cancellation.
I've monitored the speed on this via Garmin and on moderate hills there is almost zero deflection. It has to be a big hill and the bike being over geared for it to speed dip...Drove it home from Colorado so I used that to test the unit.
THIS UNIT HAS SAVED MY AXE FROM 5 SPEEDING TICKETS SINCE JULY!!!!!

Weird... I used to work for Rostra Precision Controls... we manufactured cruise controls and anti-lock brake controllers for nearly every auto manufacturer. I left there 20 years ago and never thought I'd hear that name again!

Hello, I just wanted to add my two cents. i used the bar ends from a Ninja 650r 2011 and bolts, and for the right side i used a kaoko cruise control. It looks good and it works great. It is a mechanical cruise control that just locks the throttle. i had to use a washer between the bar en and the handle bar to keep some spacing and slack on the adjuster. Thanks for reading.

That's ok if you only want to relieve hand cramps and want to limit the $$ but not the unit for sustained speed control unmonitored which is what the OP is asking about. 30 seconds or less of not paying attention and in the right conditions you can be way over the speed limit. There's always the monitoring of your speed and slight bumps of the throttle to manually maintain steady speed.

I use an approx. 12 inch piece of insulated wire. Looped around the throttle then twisted together - -long enough to make contact with the top of the front brake lever. Kind of a pain to set speed with two hands but offset by easily slowing (just roll off throttle). Simple and cheap is good for me. Also i can just use to offset wrist fatigue
