ok, guys, now it's MY turn to swap out my rear shock.

is the '03-'04 Zx636 shock still the way to go?
is it really a straight swap? I don't think I would know how to modify to make it work.

How much you weigh? Going by the picture I'd say yes.

What is the un-preloaded length on the 03-04 636 forks, in case I missed seeing that earlier in this thread...
I just got '07 6r tubes for my '08 Z1000 , and they measure 29 1/4 static. My Z is sitting under at 28 3/8 , under its own weight. I dont see the 6r fork being that much different once installed. Certainly not an inch of fork above the top crown...

Swapped out the forks today... '07 zx6r tubes are sitting 9/16" above the top crown to match the ride height of the stock Z forks , showing 1/4" above...
0.100" per side spacers added at the axle ( equal to simply using the 6r spacers) , and 0.170" per side spacers added at the lower fender mount.
GROOVY.
Now I just need winter to go away so I can try er out...
Dan

Seems that the caliper mounts are a few degrees further away from the stanchions , as well , could use an inch or so more brakeline to accomodate. Its a little tight at full extension.

Correct me if I understood wrong.
If I want to make the rear shock swap, it has to be from a 2003 636 or else I'll have to switch spring?

Is it better to get a 03 shock and use it stock, or buy a almost new 06 shock and switch spring with old device on Z?

What are the chances of getting an old shock from a 636 that is not working that well (worn)?
If anybody here has one to sell, please advise.

1.25" - which is about 30mm.

ZX10 Forks

Hi all
As a newbie to bike modifying I was wondering if the fors of a ZX10 are also suitable for this modification? Having troubles finding some 636 stuff in australia.
Cheers
