ZX9R Exhaust on Z1000

I know certain ZX9 exhaust systems will work fine on a Z1000, others need modification, and some not at all. Will either of these two systems work on an 06 Z1000?

A few guys have ZX-9 full systems on their Z1000's. If you want to use these then you need to get a system from an 02-03 ZX-9. you can get a stock header ZX-9 header & use a aftermarket slipon or buy a full aftermarket system. Must be 02-03.

Actually I think it has to do w/ clearence & fitment. The Z1000 block is the old ZX-9 block just bored & stroked to 953cc. The heads are the same only the Z1000 has different cams.
I used a ZX-9 header to build my underbody exhaust. Check out this thread.

the akrapovics I've got hold of are from ZX9C1/C2 (98-00)

another thing is, have you done anything about the side stand stop, you know the big rubber bung thing ?

Will the side stand hit the chain when up ? Or does it have limited travel ?

I posted a thread a while back about the primaries on the stock 00-03 headers being larger allowing for more high rpm flow. However, 98-00 aftermarket systems should work just fine.

If you want a set of ZX9R headers, 02-03 model, let me know.....I have a set collecting dust, as I put on a Muzzy system.

Pay for shipping and give me an extra $20, and they are yours.....I dont need them.....

I have a zx9r header + mid pipe + muzzy muffler for sale also which all fits on z1000. I have since painted it black which looks nice but it should be powdercoated / ceramic for better life. Still after getting this going plus that youd save a killing vs buying a fullsystem.
