What's your total $$cost$$ for 636 fork swap?
Hey guys and gals,
Wondering what your total costs have been for your front end 636 swaps. From what I've found on ebay it looks like the costs are going to run around $500 bucks for the whole thing: $250 636 forks (including shipping) $100 calipers $40 brake pads $100 brake lines $30 fork oil $30 brake fluid ____ $550. Sound about right? Any luck selling off your stock pieces for anything? I was hoping to recoup about $100 bucks for the stock stuff..

I have $400 in mine currently (got my 05 forks for $100
). Parts can be a bit cheaper in the winter ($100 forks, $50 on calipers...). good luck selling the stock bits ![]() |

Your pads will cost more like $80-120, assuming you do the right thing and install HH pads. They come in sets of 4, which is enough to do 1 side, so you'll need to buy 2 sets. If you find them cheaper than $40/side, let me know, otherwise, I can e-mail you the name of a place that has great prices on Galfer pads. For some reason, this forum won't allow me to post the name of that particular place though...

i used the pads that came in the calipers i got. they were the stock kawasaki ZX6 pads which are actually HH pads. they had at least 80% left. result! any way my point is wait till you get the calipers you buy and check the pads if it has them.

Heres what the front swap cost me. Take into consideration that im on the other side of the PLANET.
$250 '06 636 forks (ebay) $80 '05 636 calipers (ebay) $140 shipping $25 goldfren pads (local) $30 '04 ZX10 master pump (local crotch rocketeer) $9 Brake fluid (local, wtf brand starts with D )$140 Plot Swage Brake hoses (local) $90 '04 ZX10 shock (local) $2.5 hight tensile bolts for calipers (1.25 pitch X 70mm?) put the forks on straight out the box. havent re-oiled or re-sealed them. and STILL they are so much more better than stock. also did these at the same time; $2 '05 clutch mount (dug myself a hole cos of the zx10pump..had to even both sides..Ha!) $90 Pazzo clutch shortie (mass order) so the actual swap ~ $650 or $550 (minus shipping if you live in the US) ![]() |
